Seguin, Texas

The city of Seguin was officially founded in 1838 on the banks of the beautiful Guadalupe River. Located 30 miles west of Gonzales and 15 miles east of New Braunfels, Seguin is in the middle of what the Texas Historical Commission calls the "Texas Independence Region".
Seguin is a vibrant and diverse community that is now home to 36,000 residents, 27 different factories, and 187 years of Texas history.

What we do

We here at the Seguin-Guadalupe Heritage Museum are dedicated to the preservation and education about Seguin. Founded in 1992 by our inaugural Executive Director, John Gesick, we formally opened our doors in 1998 and have become a repository for all things Guadalupe County. Located in the historic Baenziger Building at 114 N. River Street, we are a part of the historic downtown district of Seguin and are just off the Square!

Archives

The Seguin-Guadalupe Heritage Museum is one of the major repositories for our county's archives. We have the founding documents for Seguin, the entire collection of Leon Studios, and more!

Education and Outreach

Our museum is always engaging our community through tours, open houses, and school education tours. Feel free to ask us about special tours!

Space Rental

Our building that we reside in is the former Baezinger's Grocery store. Our building also contains the old Kempestein Theatre on our second floor. These venues can be rented for private events.
